T-shirt with "Mirò Pop" design by Daniele Calamandrei

A design derived from a reworking of an inlay decoration made of fragments of colored leather, inspired by a 1941 work by Joan Mirò, titled "Numbers and Loving Constellations of a Woman." The decoration was reproduced on different colored supports, appearing like a pop reinterpretation of a subject. Hence the title. It is an attempt to capture the main elements of a Surrealist painting, rearranged within the composition in a personal way: the unconscious reigns supreme. When we ask Daniele, who created the inlay decoration, he states:

• The title of the original work is disconcerting, and I believe it could not be otherwise: "Ciphres and and Constellations in Love with a Woman". Inevitably, it was given by Mirò after the work was completed. So... look for the woman, look for the numbers... is there a man? So, elements rearranged in a personal way means I was just guessing. I think my decoration could be titled… “Human Traces in Space,” as if… Now that I think about it… as if they had been launched into orbit by an explosion. Being launched into space could represent the meaning of love for Mirò. Then Mirò… at that time, he was internally searching for hope in a world at war… explosions had a great weight…”
